"The American Context" was created in 2012 and is a collection of quilts that explores the relationship between historically recognizable fine Art and traditional quilting. The quilts in this collection reference famous postures from classical American paintings and reconfigure them utilizing traditional quilting techniques. The intent of these works was to blur the line between Art and craft and challenge high art institutions to accept quilts as fine Art and quilt-makers as Artists.

This collection was debuted in Chelsea, New York as part of "The American Context" solo exhibition. Many pieces from this collection have gone on to be acquired by high art institutions.
