The Log Cabins of Luke Haynes is a 50-piece series exploring the iconic Log Cabin block—the first widely repeatable quilt block in American quilt history. Drawing inspiration from the minimalist works of Donald Judd, this series reinterprets the Log Cabin block through varied configurations and compositional studies, creating a powerful dialogue between traditional quilting and contemporary art.

Each of the 50 quilts was constructed entirely from second-hand textiles and clothing, continuing Haynes’ commitment to sustainability and material storytelling. The series was made possible through the collaborative work of artists within the sewing community, whose contributions are honored on an embroidered quilt that accompanies the exhibition wherever it tours.

The Log Cabins of Luke Haynes has been exhibited in museums, galleries, and unconventional spaces around the world—from France to Japan to Nebraska—demonstrating the global resonance of this timeless form.
